Through the Years of Dust

As I go through my pile of books, as I do from time to time, I usually set aside books to re-read. I have a set few that always remain in this pile and go back into it as soon as I finish reading them. To give you an idea, here is a small list of that group:

  • Dune(and the accompanying books)
  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
  • Any Star Wars book ever written
  • The Three Muskateersimg via forgottenbooks.com
  • The Engineer Trilogy by K.J. Parker

These are constants for me but there is one book that I will probably pick up before all the others, The Count of Monte Cristo. I’ve read this book more times than I can remember and even named my daughter Haydee after a character from the book, though I spell it differently. I didn’t want to have to mess with accent marks and all.

The intricacies, plots within plots, character development and the way it is written always drags me back to it’s pages. Alexandre Dumas had a way with words that creates persistent images in my mind as I read. If you’ve never delved into this wonderful book, I highly recommend it.
